Material & Care Guide
At ZEMME, our accessories are designed to complement modern men’s everyday style — from daily essentials to elevated statement pieces.
We carefully select materials based on durability, wearability, finish, and overall design intention. Our core materials currently include stainless steel and 925 silver, while selected future collections may include other materials or finishes depending on the product design.
To keep your accessories looking their best, please read the material information and care instructions below before wearing, storing, or cleaning your pieces.
1. Stainless Steel
Stainless steel is one of our key materials for durable daily wear. It is known for its strength, resistance to tarnishing, and low-maintenance nature, making it suitable for everyday accessories.
Key Features
- Durable and strong
- Resistant to tarnishing compared to many other metals
- Suitable for daily wear
- Low maintenance
- Modern, clean, and masculine finish
Care Instructions
Although stainless steel is durable, proper care is still recommended to maintain its appearance.
To care for stainless steel accessories:
- Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth after wearing
- Store separately to avoid scratches from other jewellery or hard objects
- Avoid prolonged exposure to sweat, seawater, chlorine, perfume, alcohol, lotion, and harsh chemicals
- Remove before swimming, showering, exercising, or sleeping for better long-term maintenance
- Do not use abrasive cloths, polishing agents, or harsh cleaning chemicals
Important Note
Stainless steel is more resistant to tarnishing, but it is not completely scratch-proof or damage-proof. Minor scratches, surface marks, or natural changes in appearance may occur over time with regular wear.
2. 925 Silver
925 silver, also known as sterling silver, contains 92.5% silver and is widely used in quality jewellery. It offers a more refined finish and elevated feel compared to many everyday metals.
Key Features
- Premium silver material
- Refined and elegant finish
- Suitable for elevated daily wear
- Naturally develops character over time
- Can be polished and maintained with proper care
Care Instructions
925 silver requires more care than stainless steel because silver may naturally oxidise or tarnish when exposed to air, moisture, sweat, chemicals, or certain environments.
To care for 925 silver accessories:
- Wipe gently with a silver polishing cloth after wearing
- Keep away from perfume, lotion, alcohol, sweat, chlorine, seawater, and harsh chemicals
- Store in a dry place when not in use
- Keep each piece separately in a pouch, box, or sealed bag to reduce oxidation
- Remove before showering, swimming, exercising, or sleeping
- Avoid wearing silver accessories during heavy sweating or exposure to humid environments for long periods
About Oxidation
Silver oxidation or tarnishing is a natural reaction and does not mean the product is defective. With proper cleaning and storage, the shine of 925 silver can usually be restored or improved.
For light tarnishing, gently clean the item with a silver polishing cloth. Avoid using unknown cleaning liquids or chemical solutions unless they are specifically designed for sterling silver.
3. Plated, Coated, or Finished Accessories
Some ZEMME products may include plated, coated, coloured, polished, brushed, oxidised, or specially finished surfaces depending on the design.
These finishes require careful handling because the surface layer may gradually fade, wear, or change over time due to friction, sweat, moisture, chemicals, or frequent use.
Care Instructions
To maintain plated or finished accessories:
- Avoid direct contact with perfume, alcohol, lotion, sunscreen, sweat, and cleaning products
- Do not wear during swimming, showering, exercising, or sleeping
- Avoid rubbing the surface against hard or rough objects
- Store separately to prevent scratches
- Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth after use
- Do not polish aggressively, as this may affect the surface finish
Important Note
Fading, surface wear, scratches, or colour changes caused by regular use, friction, chemicals, improper storage, or exposure to moisture may be considered normal wear and tear.
4. Other Materials
Future ZEMME collections may include other materials such as alternative metals, natural stones, leather, cord, enamel, or mixed-material components.
Where applicable, specific material details and care instructions will be stated on the individual product page.
Please always refer to the product description before purchase, as care requirements may vary depending on the material, finish, and design.
5. General Care Guide
To extend the life of your accessories, we recommend the following general care practices.
Keep Away From Chemicals
Avoid contact with:
- Perfume
- Alcohol
- Lotion
- Sunscreen
- Hair products
- Cleaning products
- Chlorine
- Seawater
- Soap and detergent
Chemicals may affect the surface, shine, colour, or finish of your accessories.
Avoid Water Exposure
Although some materials are more water-resistant than others, we recommend keeping all accessories dry whenever possible.
Please remove your accessories before:
- Showering
- Swimming
- Exercising
- Washing hands for long periods
- Entering saunas or hot springs
- Sleeping
Moisture, sweat, and heat may speed up tarnishing, oxidation, fading, or surface wear.
Store Properly
When not in use, store your accessories properly to reduce scratches, oxidation, and damage.
We recommend:
- Storing each item separately
- Keeping accessories in a pouch, box, or sealed bag
- Avoiding direct sunlight
- Keeping them away from humid areas such as bathrooms
- Avoiding contact with sharp or hard objects
Clean Gently
After wearing, gently wipe your accessory with a soft, dry cloth to remove sweat, oil, dust, or moisture.
For 925 silver, you may use a silver polishing cloth when needed.
Avoid:
- Rough cloths
- Toothpaste
- Bleach
- Alcohol wipes
- Abrasive cleaners
- Unknown jewellery cleaning liquids
- Excessive polishing
Improper cleaning methods may damage the surface or finish.
6. What Is Considered Normal Wear and Tear
Accessories are wearable items and may naturally show signs of use over time.
The following may be considered normal wear and tear:
- Minor scratches
- Small surface marks
- Natural oxidation of silver
- Fading caused by friction
- Colour changes due to sweat, chemicals, or moisture
- Surface wear on plated or coated finishes
- Deformation caused by impact, pulling, bending, or improper handling
Normal wear and tear is not considered a manufacturing defect.
7. Manufacturing Defects
A manufacturing defect refers to an issue caused during the production process, not damage caused by use, accident, improper care, or normal ageing.
Examples that may be reviewed include:
- Broken item upon arrival
- Missing parts upon arrival
- Wrong item received
- Visible defect before use
- Damage caused during delivery, where verified
If you believe your item has a manufacturing defect or was damaged upon arrival, please contact us within 7 days from the date your parcel is marked as delivered.

8. Before Wearing Your Accessories
To maintain your accessories in the best possible condition, we recommend following this simple rule:
Wear last, remove first.
Put on your accessories after applying perfume, lotion, sunscreen, or hair products.
Remove them before showering, swimming, exercising, or sleeping.
This helps reduce exposure to moisture, chemicals, friction, and impact.
9. Final Note
Each ZEMME piece is designed to be worn with intention. With proper care, your accessories can maintain their appearance and become part of your everyday style for a longer time.
Please refer to the product description for specific material details, as care requirements may vary from item to item.
